Job Description

The  Waste and Recycle Worker’s main responsibilities include receiving and processing incoming products, preparing waste and recycle product for transport and quality control duties. This person ensures the recycle shed is clean and organized, maintained in accordance with the facility protocols and safety standards. 

About Denali National Park & Preserve and Doyon/Aramark Joint Venture:  

Summer days in Alaska stretch nearly endlessly, with up to 20 hours of daylight on the Summer Solstice. Spanning 6.2 million acres, Denali National Park & Preserve is home to Denali, the highest peak in North America, and attracts over half a million visitors annually. Conveniently accessible by road—4.5 hours from Anchorage and 2 hours from Fairbanks. 

Doyon Limited and Aramark have teamed up in a Joint Venture as the Denali National Park & Preserve's Concessionaire. Open May to September, our operation manages the transportation, retail, guest service and food and beverage concessions with our client; The National Park Service. By road, our 100 Blue Bird Bus Fleet takes guests past the 15-mile public access point daily during summer months, allowing people to hike, view wildlife, climb, and camp where few people have set foot. 

This is a seasonal role with ideal dates of April 30 - September 30, 2026.

Employees are responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position.  Job specific Environmental Aspects and Impacts will be communicated by Dept. Managers during EMS training. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Works with the Recycle Drivers to move Recycled items (Plastic, Cardboard, Trash, Glass, Aluminum, Straps) from park disposal locations and brings to Recycling shed for proper disposal. 
  • Load recycling trailers with Filter paper bales and baled recycled products. 
  • Operate forklifts within the Safety standards. 
  • Maintain and switch batteries in the lifts per the Material Handling procedures. 
  • Report forklift maintenance issues/error codes and fill out inspection sheets daily. 
  • Maintain high levels of housekeeping as it pertains to our standards. 
  • Operate semi-automatic pallet wrappers as needed. 
  • Communicate with Manager, the removal of full trailers with Shipping Company 
  • Coordinate Trailer swaps with drivers. 
  • Operate Paper Baler, Plastic baler, Trash, Compost and Cardboard compactors 
  • Adhere to all Company, Local, State and Federal regulations and policies. 
  • Perform other material handling duties as needed. 
  • Responsibility to report environmental coordinator as needed. 
  • Must be able to execute duties safely and efficiently to keep up with demand. 
  • All other Material Handler duties, qualifications, and functions as required.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in groundskeeping, custodial or recycling preferred. 
  • Proven experience successfully working with minimal supervision. 
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical to become Commercial Motor Vehicle certified 
  • Must be able to adhere to safety procedures.  
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.  
  • Ability to work standing for long periods of time. 
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to adhere to safety procedures.  
  • Work involves exposure to unusual elements and extreme temperatures. 
  • This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
