Overview
Registered Nurse – NICU (Travel) in San Luis Obispo, California. Start date: 04/13/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $1,873–$1,939 per week. Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (3x12). Setting: Home Healthcare - Hospice. This travel assignment focuses on planning, coordinating, and delivering skilled nursing care to neonates in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on specified night shifts. Responsibilities include care planning, medication administration, monitoring physiological changes, and addressing the psychosocial needs of neonates, as well as educating patients’ families. Supervises and delegates to ancillary personnel within their scope of practice and will be cross-trained with the Pediatric team and float to Pediatrics as needed. This position is represented by CNA.

Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and provide comprehensive nursing care to NICU patients during night shifts.
- Administer medications, monitor vital signs and neonatal status, and document physiological changes accurately.
- Assess psychosocial needs of neonates and provide education and training to families to support care at discharge or home transition.
- Develop and update individualized care plans, coordinate with the patient care team, and ensure appropriate escalation when changes in condition occur.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to ancillary personnel in accordance with scope of practice; maintain competency through cross-training and float to pediatric services as needed.

Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California
- Neonatal ICU/NICU experience or strong NICU exposure; willingness to float to Pediatrics as needed
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) or equivalent
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ASN or BSN)
- Ability to work nights and 12-hour shifts in a home healthcare – hospice setting; capable of travel as assigned
