Center Directors (Part-Time)

After School Programs | Washington, DC

$25-$27 per hour | Part-Time | Approximately 15-20 Hours Per Week

Leading Edge Extended Learning is seeking passionate, organized, and student-focused Center Directors to lead our growing after-school programs throughout Washington, DC. Position Summary

The Center Director provides leadership for an after-school program serving elementary-aged students. This position is responsible for supervising staff, maintaining compliance with District of Columbia licensing requirements, building strong relationships with school administrators and families, supporting student engagement, and ensuring high-quality programming every day.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of an after-school program.
  • Supervise, coach, and support program staff.
  • Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for students.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, school administrators, and community partners.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSSE licensing requirements and company policies.
  • Maintain required program documentation and records.
  • Monitor staff schedules and student-to-staff ratios.
  • Support curriculum implementation and engaging enrichment activities.
  • Respond appropriately to student behavior and parent concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with families and Leading Edge leadership.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.
  • Travel to meetings or other school locations as needed.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following District of Columbia qualification pathways for an Out-of-School-Time Center Director:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Education, Child and Positive Youth Development, or Early/Special Education; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college or university plus at least one year of supervised experience working with school-age children (under age 15) in an accredited school, licensed child development center, camp, or equivalent setting; OR
  • Associate's degree in Education or Child and Positive Youth Development plus at least one year of supervised experience working with school-age children (under age 15) in an accredited school, licensed child development center, camp, or equivalent setting.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be eligible to obtain all required OSSE clearances before employment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Passion for supporting children and developing positive program cultures.

Schedule

Monday-Friday

Afternoon schedule between approximately 3:00 PM and 6:30 PM , depending on assigned school.

Part-Time Center Directors are currently being hired for:

  • Bunker Hill Elementary
  • Powell Elementary

Placement is determined based on organizational needs and candidate preference whenever possible.

Hiring Process

These positions are anticipated to begin prior to the start of the upcoming school year to allow ample time for onboarding, training, and program preparation.
