Behavioral Coach will play a critical role in supporting the social, emotional, and academic success of students across the PK-12 continuum who have been identified as exhibiting behavioral difficulties that impede their social development and academic progress. This position focuses on the practical application of psychological principles through direct coaching and collaboration to create effective and supportive learning environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Behavioral Programming and Intervention:
    • Assist in the development and implementation of effective, evidence-based behavioral programming for students within all learning environments.
    • Administer and monitor intensive behavioral intervention programs for identified students.
    • Work 1:1 with students at the classroom level, when necessary, to affect behavior change, model appropriate intervention techniques for staff members, evaluate student needs, and provide interventions to redirect behavior.
    • Model and support evidence-based behavioral strategies to support students in their least restrictive environment.
  • Crisis Response and Safety:
    • Assess and objectively analyze behavioral crisis situations and make proper judgments and decisions.
    • Respond and communicate quickly and effectively, sharing recommendations with the building team, administration, and individuals.
    • Maintain training and updated knowledge in safety, security, physical restraints, and behavior management procedures.
  • Consultation and Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with school staff (teachers, administrators, support personnel) for the purpose of monitoring, redirecting, and modifying student behavioral programming.
    • Provide training and professional development to staff on behavioral interventions, data collection, and program fidelity.
    • Support MTSS-B implementation at the building and classroom level through coaching and modeling.
    • Serve on MTSS-B Building level committees (PBIS, BIST, etc) to support implementation and alignment to district framework
    • Develop rapport, professional relationships, and ongoing communication with students, teachers, and families for the purpose of providing/implementing individual strategies and program interventions that are in line with student goals.
    • Participate actively in team meetings, staff meetings, and school meetings as requested to collaborate to deliver quality behavior support and mental health services to clients and families.
    • Act as a liaison between district-level personnel (Director of Student Services, Special Education Coordinator) and building administration to support building-level initiatives.
  • Assessment and Planning:
    • Support the development of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and the creation of comprehensive Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
    • Assist with autism program planning and the implementation of specialized interventions for students on the autism spectrum.
  • Data-Driven Practice: Utilize data to evaluate the effectiveness of behavioral interventions and make informed decisions regarding student programming.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Training and demonstrated competency in conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and writing comprehensive Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Experience in developing and implementing programming for students on the autism spectrum.
  • Training in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports for Behavior (MTSS-B).
  • Prior experience in special education settings.
  • Demonstrated experience working with at-risk students and implementing effective interventions for disruptive behaviors.
  • Knowledge of appropriate behavioral intervention strategies, IEP/MDT process and development; de-escalation and personal safety techniques, strong written and communication skills, ability to train staff and parents on behavioral interventions; resiliency, 
  • Assess and objectively analyze behavioral crisis situation and make proper judgments
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare clear and concise reports
  • Conduct workshops, trainings, in-services and otherwise serve as a coach to teachers, staff, parents on behavioral topics for the purpose of developing skills and establishing effective relationships with behaviorally or emotionally disturbed students. 
  • Collaborate with members of inter-disciplinary teams, provide ongoing clinical consultation to assigned staff
  • Work effectively, cooperatively, confidentially and respectfully with staff, parents and community members
  • Work independently under limited supervision using standardized practices or methods
  • Work on on one with students to affect behavior change, model appropriate intervention techniques for staff, coaching staff and evaluate students needs and provide interventions to redirect behavior
  • Develop and implement safe and effective behavioral management techniques consistent with behavioral goals, behavioral intervention plans to rescue the number of disruptive behaviors in the classroom, home and community. 
  • Willingness to obtain additional training in areas related to job functioning, knowledge and/or abilities
  • Ability to organize, priorities workload and structure time effectively
  • Exhibit a reliable, punctual ,dependable, honest and self-motivated approach
  • Perform all other duties delegated by immediate supervisor

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification or actively pursuing certification.
  • Valid State School Psychologist certification or license.
